Propelling Putra Heights Buddhist Society (PHBS) to Greater Heights
The Putra Heights township welcomes the formation of its bonafide Buddhist Society in January 2010. The “kick-off event” was the inaugural Wesak Day Celebrations held at Putra Point recently. Buoyed by the warm & enthusiastic reception by the Putra Heights residents, where the membership tripled overnight, PHBS has been inspired to look for a shoplot premise in Putra Point to better live up to the tagline “Your Neighbourhood Buddhist Fellowship”.
The PHBS Sunday Dhamma School will be the focal point. PHBS are getting dedicated volunteers can contribute their expertise & experience to craft the appropriate curriculum & teaching methodology so that we can inculcate holistic Buddhist values to our next generation. We also hope their parents will make PHBS a spiritual beacon for their personal development as well.
PHBS needs DANA from good Samaritans to facilitate the renovation of the new PHBS centre at 11-1, Jalan Putra Mahkota 7/8C (Attachment 1). Hence, this is a great opportunity to be part of the force to turn the wheel of Dhamma in Putra Heights. Contirbutions in kind or cash (cheque issued to “Putra Heights Buddhist Society” bank-in to Public Bank Acc No. 3161987208) will be most welcomed. For further information please contact Bro Chua Teck Seong (HP 016-223 3537/teckseong@gmail.com) or Sis Cerlina Ho Siew Yoong (HP 019-3384913/cerlinaho@gmail.com )
Bro Chua Teck Seong ( HP 016-2233537 / teckseong@gmail.com ) or Sis Cerlina Ho Siew Yoong ( HP 019-3384913/cerlinaho@gmail.com )

SUBANG JAYA: Buddhists thronged the Wesak mobile temple set up in Putra Heights for Wesak Day celebrations.
The celebration was a collaboration effort by Putra Heights Buddhist Society and Upakara Kalyana Mitta Buddhist Association (UKMBA) to allow residents to celebrate the festival in their neighbourhood.
The celebration started with flower and candle light offerings from the residents.
These items were sold at RM10 each to help pay for the celebration.
Then there was a puja and blessings by monks, followed by a Buddha-bathing ceremony. The devotees were treated to free lunch afterwards.
Sis.Sumangala of Aloka Foundation gave talks on the meaning of Wesak Day.
The Tzu Chi Foundation also distributed religious books in exchange for donations.
Jonathan Kan, a devotee, said the mobile temple was a great idea as it made it convenient for his family to pay respects to the Buddha.
Visitors were given free glucose and cholesterol tests.
There were several booths selling drinks, food and other items.
A musical performance by Messenger of Dhamma (MOD) was presented towards the end of the celebration.
The celebrations ended with blessings from the monks.
President of the Joint Organisation for Putra Heights Inaugural Wesak Day Celebration Chua Teck Seong was delighted with the overwhelming response from the residents.
He expressed the hope that the Buddhist society's membership would increase in years to come.
